Michael A. Leichtling, FIDV Board Chair, and Advocate Edan Kleiman, new Chair of the ZDVO Board in Israel, welcomed everyone.
The new leadership of the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization (ZDVO) has begun its work. The National Conference of the Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization unanimously chose Adv. Edan Kleiman as the Chairman of the organization.
Dr. Isaac Seinuk, longtime Trustee of Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans-Beit Halochem, and his wife Fern, participated in the 2019 Courage in Motion ride in Israel, October 27-31. CIM is a bicycled-based journey that supports Beit Halochem, while also including disabled veterans riding along with the touring athletes.
In the first week of September 2019, a very distinguished delegation of American friends, many of whom have a military background, visited Beit Halochem. Part of a now three-year collaboration between Beit Halochem and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the American Israel Education Fund (AIEF), the delegates met disabled veterans, toured the Beit Halochem facility, and discussed issues related to the heroes’ rehabilitation challenges and accomplishments.
Scholarship support for Israel’s disabled veterans at Beit Halochem touches many lives. In the latest award ceremony, held on June 5, 2019, at Beit Halochem Tel Aviv, included awardees for outstanding disabled athletes and their coaches.
At the 10th Annual 5 Towns 5K Run/Walk, held on Sunday, May 19, 2019, an eager crowd of close to 400 braved uncertain weather in North Woodmere Park to raise awareness and critical operating funds for the Beit Halochem centers in Israel.
We are happy to announce that our friends at Valencia Bay, Florida, have formed the Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans-Beit Halochem Club. At this initial breakfast meeting on April 28, close to 50 people came together to learn more about how Beit Halochem helps disabled veterans and survivors of terror attacks in Israel.
Lisa and Barry Levi hosted over 90 young professionals who came to learn about Israel’s disabled veterans.
