On Thursday, January 19, close to 450 young men and women gathered at Tribeca Rooftop to celebrate and support Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans-Beit Halochem, and the soldiers who have been injured protecting Israel. Now in its third year, this inspiring evening was co-chaired by Mike Shmuely, Jake Kent, with Jake Pereg serving as auction chair.

Ohad Roisblatt, an Israeli veteran disabled in Operation Protective Edge, shared his story of sacrifice and courage “I had to come to terms with the fact that I saw seven of my troops killed in front of me. I was also badly injured and came close to death. I have been lucky enough to receive ongoing care and support from Beit Halochem as have all my family.”

Jake Pereg highlighted the importance of FIDV-Beit Halochem: “Tonight is an opportunity to recognize and support the people who risk their lives to protect Israel, a country that is home to us all.”

FIDV-Beit Halochem is fortunate to have a great ambassador like Ohad. He is one of the 51,000 veterans and victims of terror served by Beit Halochem.

“FIDV-Beit Halochem cannot continue to do the good work we do, without your friendship and commitment to help. Together we support our wounded warriors on their long journey: the journey to recovery and health,” noted Mike Shmuely, Young Leaders co-chair.

Jake Kent summarized, “Without brave heroes like Ohad, we would have no Israel. We all have a responsibility to honor and support their tremendous sacrifices.”

FIDV-Beit Halochem is grateful to everyone who participated. Join us: together we can make a difference.
