North Woodmere, New York– More than 400 supporters of Beit Halochem gathered at 10 am in North Woodmere on Sunday, June 9, to participate in the 15th Annual 5Towns 5K Run/Walk. Led each year by Dr. Isaac Seinuk, Co-Chair of Beit Halochem USA, this inspiring event helps support our rehabilitation centers in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Beer Sheva, which serve our wounded Israeli heroes.
Three newly wounded soldiers from the Iron Swords War set an example of courage as they participated along with the other runners. They truly embodied the spirit of resilience and determination. The other runners and walkers were profoundly touched by having these heroes with them.
The event was sponsored by several local businesses, with Shalom Maidenbaum, as always, the major supporter. This collaboration underscored the community’s strong support for our wounded soldiers, Beit Halochem, and the Israel Emergency Campaign.
Young and old were thrilled to have the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from the wounded veterans, gaining invaluable insights into the ongoing situation in Israel. This unique interaction fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these soldiers.
This year we were very proud to have Elan and William choose Beit Halochem as their Bar Mitzvah projects. This is the 2nd year in a row that a Bar or Bat Mitzvah has chosen to support Beit Halochem as their Chesed Project. For more information, please go to fidv.org/donate/bnei-mitzvah-wall-of-honor/.
The close to $50,000 raised through this annual run/walk is critically needed, especially now. Moreover, people learned about the critical work of Beit Halochem, and the individuals we serve. Beit Halochem is the only organization that collaborates with Israel’s Ministry of Defense and the government to help injured soldiers regain their lives.
“I am especially pleased with this year’s event,” Dr. Seinuk said. “The people who came and participated saw in person why raising these funds is so important.”
“I want to thank each and every person who came, our event sponsors, and the three heroes from Israel – you all contributed to making The 15th Annual 5Towns 5K Run/Walk the best ever. The men and women served at Beit Halochem will be bolstered by your commitment to help.”
