Beit Halochem in Tel Aviv welcomed a visit by Cyrus and Judith Abbe on July 2, during their most recent trip to Israel. Cyrus Abbe has noted, “Israel is ours. If we don’t stand up and defend our country, who will?”
The Abbes are firm supporters of Israel and her disabled veterans. Their concern extends to those men and women who have been wounded and disabled during their military service. So it was important for him and his wife, herself a medical doctor, to learn more about the programs and services offered by Beit Halochem – in person.
The tour, led by Ora Seidner from the Zahal Disabled Veterans Fund/ZDVO,included an opportunity for Mr. Abbe to try his hand at shooting a rifle in the Beit Halochem Tel Aviv riflery center.
Seidner commented about the couple’s visit that it was truly a pleasure to have met the Abbes. She thanked them “for having given me the opportunity to host you at Tel Aviv’s Beit Halochem and to introduce you to this unique facility. It was great to have this opportunity expand on so many of the aspects of our work.”
Judith and Cyrus Abbe attended an FIDV “Parlor Meeting” in January, at the home of Sabrina and David Ascher. FIDV is hoping that they will become “Goodwill Ambassadors” for FIDV-Beit Halochem by reaching out to their friends and colleagues about our work and encourage them to plan a visit when they next are in Israel.
