The Bayit/Hebrew Institute of Riverdale Community Celebrates Chesed Day

Community members write letters of love to the injured

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, Beit Halochem/FIDV was honored by this community, which chose to show its love and concern for the injured soldiers defending Israel. People participated by writing personal messages to two Israeli servicemen – Itay Sagy and Liam Spielman –  both of whom were seriously wounded in Swords of Iron.

It was heartening to see people of all ages writing cards to our heroes, some as young as 2-1/2 years old. They drew pictures wrote encouraging wishes, and thanked Liam and Itay for their bravery.

As these friends wrote to our Israeli soldiers, they also learned about how the Beit Halochem rehabilitation centers in Israel make it possible for each wounded hero to focus on getting well, and rebuilding their lives.

Of course, The Bayit/Hebrew Institute of Riverdale community sent warm wishes of Shana Tova, and Refuah Shleima to Itay and Liam, as they thanked them for their service to Israel. Their messages will let them know that we care about Israel and her defenders.
