A lively delegation of 53 Evangelical Christians from Eagles’ Wings Ministry made a special visit to Beit Halochem Tel Aviv on Sunday, September 24. Led by Rev. Robert Stearns, this was the first stop on a longer tour to Israel to participate in their special Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (October 1). The group included people of all ages, and had many American veterans, some of them disabled.

Robert Rothenberg, a FIDV-Beit Halochem Trustee, arranged for them to visit the Beit Halochem. He noted that this group was very impressed by the comprehensive services, state-of-the-art facility, and long-term commitment of Beit Halochem to the men, women and families it serves.

To showcase the facility and its programs, the delegation was treated to a special performance by award winning wheelchair dancers; listened to a presentation by two-time Paralympics gold medalist in swimming, Hanoch Budin; toured the Tel Aviv aquatic rehabilitation complex; and watched a practice session of the Israeli wheelchair basketball team.

More cooperation between those who love Israel, and those who have sacrificed so much to protect her, should bring extra support and healing opportunities for disabled veterans, terror survivors and their families.
