Since Israel’s Independence the country has fought many wars, and many tens of thousands of soldiers have been wounded.  I have a cousin who recently experienced a traumatic injury in Gaza, and he is not alone; since October 7th, over 3,200 soldiers have been wounded, many of whom will have to live with those injuries for the rest of their lives. Israel’s soldiers are not only fighting for their country, they’re fighting for the existence of our Jewish homeland. They’re fighting so that if there is ever a time that the Jewish people need a place to go, if we are ever not welcome anywhere else, it will be there for us.
