Gifts in Honor of Jackson Drowos’ Bar Mitzvah
Hello – this is Jackson Drowos!
I am currently preparing for my Bar Mitzvah in April of 2025. Part of my planning includes a service project that helps the community. When I was talking to my parents about what kind of service project would be meaningful for me, I was so excited to learn about Beit Halochem.
I am an avid sports fan and I am really passionate about sports, whether watching sports, playing sports and talking about sports. Baseball and soccer are my two favorite sports to play, but I also love running cross-country and playing pickleball. Football is my favorite sport to watch, and I am kind of a wizard when it comes to fantasy football.
I told my parents that I want to focus my Mitzvah project on helping soldiers in Israel who are fighting in the war. When I discovered Beit Halochem, I realized that I could connect the things I care about. I was inspired to learn that sports and physical activity can help injured soldiers recover. This is a mission that is important to me. Especially after I was able to read stories of hero soldiers, who are recovering from serious injuries through sports and healing activities. This is important work I want to support.
My personal goal is to raise funds for wall climbing at the Beit Halochem Jerusalem Center, as well as a computer. I chose these items because I love climbing the rock wall at summer camp, and use my own computer for fantasy football.
This puts my personal fundraising goal at $6,000. To start, I am planning a kickball game with friends and family in order to raise funds and awareness for the organization. I also have ribbons and necklaces to send to people who support my mission, and will ask my friends to write letters to injured soldiers.
Donate to be part of my Mitzvah campaign! Thank you!
Thank you for supporting Beit Halochem USA-Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans. (An acknowledgment card for honor/memory giving will be sent with a $36 minimum donation.)
