Reuven Magnagey and Oren Or Bittoun, two disabled veterans from Israel participating in the 2019 Israel Honor Day Delegation, spoke to the Board of Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans-Beit Halochem, and their guests, on November 19 in New York City. Michael A. Leichtling, FIDV Board Chair, and Advocate Edan Kleiman, new Chair of the ZDVO Board in Israel, welcomed everyone.
We were proud to have had Ambassador Dani Dayan, Consul General of Israel in New York, as Guest Speaker. He spoke movingly about the importance of Beit Halochem in rebuilding these heroes’ lives, and the responsibility we all share to care for our wounded veterans.
Reuven and Oren spoke briefly about their lives, injuries, and involvement with Beit Halochem. Each man has found ways to achieve maximum recovery with the help of Beit Halochem, friends and family. But the fight for survival is ongoing for life.
Edan Kleiman reassured everyone that ZDVO and Beit Halochem will be the Iron Dome for these heroes who have been our Iron Dome. Kleiman is himself a disabled Israeli veteran and promises a renewed energy and commitment to the fullest rehabilitation possible for each and every disabled veteran.
